FGBI “VNIIKR” Specialist Takes Part in Meeting of EPPO Panel on Diagnostics in Virology and Phytoplasmology
The Fourth meeting of the Panel on Diagnostics in Virology and Phytoplasmology took place on April 5 – 7, 2016 housed by the EPPO Secretariat (Paris, France), reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Rosselkhoznadzor..
The leading experts in diagnostics of the mentioned organisms from 16 countries: Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Spain, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, France, Czech Republic and Switzerland took part in the meeting. The Russian Federation was represented by Head of the Virology Laboratory within the Testing Centre of the FGBI “VNIIKR” Yury Shneider.
In the course of the meeting the reports of previous panel meetings as well as the information concerning the IPPC meeting were presented.
The Diagnostic protocol on Andean potato latent virus and Andean potato mild mosaic virus, included into EPPO A1 list was discussed. These viruses are not present in the Russian Federation. The protocol will be sent to NPPOs for comments.
The participants also discussed the comments to Diagnostic Protocols PM 7/62 and 7/63 covering phytoplasma diagnostics techniques. In the near future these protocols will be united and it will include the diagnostics techniques for Candidatus Phytoplasma mali, Ca. P. pyri and Ca. P. prunorum.
Besides, Diagnostic Protocols 7/002 on tobacco ringspot virus and 7/049 on tomato ringspot virus as well as a new protocol on detection and identification of Pospiviroids, including chrysanthemum stunt viroids and potato spindle tuber viroids were also discussed at the meeting. The mentioned viruses and viroids were included into the List of Quarantine Objects of the Russian Federation.
As a conclusion the participants were shown presentations on different European diagnostic projects. The first presentation was devoted EUPHRESCO and EPPO role in these projects, its capacities and future plans, the second one was about Q-Collect project and rules for reference collection arrangement.
