FAF to auction large number of quota shares for fishery in Russian Far East
Rosrybolovstvo (Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries or FAF) will hold a three-day auction in November to sell quota shares for capture of various fish species in the nation’s Far East, reports Megafishnet.com.
According to FAF, the auction will cover the quota shares that remained unallocated during the application campaign of 2018 (when the quota shares were fixed to the applicants for the next time period extended to 15 years), as well as quota shares under terminated contracts.
In total, 52 quota shares for a number of fish species were put up for auction. The list of species included halibut, grenadier, Atka mackerel, whelks, thornyhead, commander squid, plaice, blue king crab and red snow crabs, coonstripe shrimp, sea cucumber, kelp, Alaska pollock, scallops, grey sea urchin, saffron cod, corbicula and herring. Besides, shares of threadfin hakeling quotas in the Japanese zone are put up for auction.
Applications for participation in the auction are accepted until 11:00 (Moscow time) on October 29, 2021. The auction will be held in stages from November 16 to 18 in Moscow.
