Anuga FoodService: The new Anuga specialized trade show for the catering and food service sector
- The "Chef of the Year" will be named on 10th October 2011 in Cologne
- Information and entertainment with a focus on the kitchen and cooking - in Hall 7 at Anuga FoodService
Eating away from home is on the rise worldwide - to varying degrees and in different ways depending on the nation and consumer group, but the trend has clearly arrived. And last but not least, the comprehensive, broad-based international study by the trade publication FoodService Europe & Middle East, which was published during the run-up to Anuga, impressively shows how much growth and innovation can be expected in the food service and catering market in the future. With its new specialized trade show Anuga FoodService, Anuga begins in 2011 to offer a separate platform with participants from Germany and around the world that serves the entire food service and catering sector - as part of Anuga, the world's largest and most important trade fair for food and drinks. The main features of Anuga FoodService are an attractive and diverse range of exhibited products and services - from technology and equipment to food and beverage-related offerings - an informative and concentrated supporting programme and a unique show stage, which will host the finale of the "Chef of the Year" competition. Anuga FoodService, the new specialized trade show under one roof at Anuga, will fully occupy Hall 7 at the Cologne exhibition centre, a gross exhibition space of about 17,000 square metres.
The Anuga FoodService product range:
With its roughly 180 exhibiting companies, Anuga FoodService is outstanding information and sourcing platform for buyers from the food service and catering sector. This product range is accessible online in the exhibitor database at the Anuga website (www.anuga.de / www.anuga.com ).
But the product range of the Anuga FoodService specialized trade show alone ensures that catering experts from small and medium-size businesses as well as business executives and chefs from major food service operations will have the opportunity to establish contacts among the international players at the trade fair. The exhibitors at Anuga FoodService include Chimbali/Faema, J.J. Darboven (Visions of Cooking), Christian Seltmann, Duni, WMF, MKN, Rational, Wiesheu, MIWE, Meiko (Visions of Cooking), Hupfer (Visions of Cooking), Salomon Food World, Unilever, Evian, Fripan, San Miguel, Ugur Sogutma, LMC Eurocold, M24, GO IN and Metro.

On Monday, 10th October 2011, starting at 10:00 a.m., the renowned food service expert Bob O'Brien will give a one-hour presentation providing a concentrated insight into the worldwide food service market and above all future strategies and opportunities. Titled "Global insights into the food service market 2011+", O'Brien will shed light on markets in Europe, Asia and North America and thereby point out the key factors for continued solid growth. The event is expected to attract 800 high-ranking guests from the restaurant, hotel and catering supply sectors. The forum is a well-established event that serves as an inspiring sector meeting with great opportunities. Another speaker, Jochen Pinsker from npdgroup deutschland GmbH/Foodservice Europe, will present the latest 2011 results for the catering sector. Here, visitors will also be able to experience attractions including modern catering up close on an area of more than 500 square metres. The "Culinary Stage" - with the finale of the "Chef of the Year" competition
A variety of cooking shows will be presented to Anuga visitors on each day of the trade fair in this modern cooking studio with all the high-tech equipment of a professional catering kitchen. The large auditorium with seating for over 250 spectators provides the ideal setting for the current and future stars of the international culinary scene.
A special highlight taking place on the Anuga Culinary Stage on Monday, 10th October 2011, will be the Chef of the Year event, the chefs' competition at Anuga. The finalists were selected during four preliminary rounds in major culinary cities in Germany and will compete against one another in the grand finale at Anuga. Eight young, highly motivated chefs will present a three-course meal before an audience of Anuga participants. A top-class jury chaired by Dieter Müller will be on hand to judge the dishes and select the winners. In addition to taking home prizes worth a total of ¤26,000, the winners will gain professional recognition and increased prestige.
On the other days of the trade fair, Heiko Antoniewicz of Unilever Food Solutions will present the advantages of "sous vide" cooking. On Tuesday, 11th October, DEHOGA North Rhine-Westphalia will take the stage, where the North Rhine-Westphalia "wild game weeks" will kick off.
