Another super trawler built in Turkey handed over to Kamchatka customer
Turkey's Tersan shipyard has raised the Russian flag onboard the new pelagic supertrawler Georgiy Meshcheryakov built for Kamchatka-based Okeanrybflot and the vessel has been handed over to the owner, reports Megafishnet.com.
According to Rybak Kamchatki, Okeanrybflot made a decision to build new vessels was made in 2015. Naval architects from the Norwegian firm Skipsteknisk were contracted for the project and the Turkish yard Tersan was chosen as the shipbuilder. The construction contract was signed in June 2018. In May 2019, metal cutting for a new vessel began at the shipyard. In July of the same year, the keel laying ceremony was held. Sea trials began in May 2021. In November, a ship with a crew onboard will head for Kamchatka.
The 108m long and 20m wide trawler is equipped with high-tech equipment capable of operating even in winter conditions and Arctic waters. This new generation vessel with a working speed of 16 nautical miles and accommodations for 150 people will provide its crews and factory workers with first-class comfort conditions. The onboard factory with 12 processing lines specially designed to work with various fish species will be able to process 450 tons of fish per day.
