About the Working Meeting between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the business community of Lebanon

As part of measures aimed at settlement of issues concerning the quality of grain consignments imported into Lebanon, the expert delegation from the Rosselkhoznadzor held negotiations with the heads of Lebanese leading business communities regarding the agricultural sector, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Rosselkhoznadzor.

On April 5, 2016 the experts of the delegation of the Rosselkhoznadzor organized and held a meeting with the president of the Lebanese Agricultural Trade Association, chairman of the Lebanese Association of Industrialists in oilseed sector Arslan Sinno, president of the group of mills “Crown Flour Mills” Paul Mansour.

During the meeting the parties discussed the previous issues concerning incorrect information about allegedly high level of “ochratoxin A” in grain consignments exported from the Russian Federation to Lebanon.

Representatives of the Lebanese business community expressed perplexity over the previously promulgated unfounded statements of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lebanon, emphasizing the absence of any documents confirming the fact of collection of samples and sample analysis by the Ministry of Health.

At the same time the Lebanese party informed the Russian party about several publications in the local media, confirming high quality and safety of the RF grain imported into the Lebanese Republic.

The Lebanese party also addressed a proposal to the Russian party to arrange a visit of the Russian Federation by the Lebanese importers of grain to get acquainted with the Russian system of growing, storage, transportation and examination of grain shipped for export, as well as to sign direct contracts with the Russian grain exporters.

At the conclusion of the talks the heads of relevant associations invited the Russian delegation to attend the conference arranged as part of the Day of Industry of Lebanon on April 6, 2016,which will be attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment of Lebanon.

As a result of negotiations the parties agreed about more intensive cooperation in the sphere of grain quality control and safety and coordination of joint efforts in solving disputable problems.
