Important developments in Russia's import of mackerel in 2006
According to provisional figures of Russia's Federal Customs Service, in 2006 the volume of mackerel imported from Norway increased 2.5-fold (+156.14%) as compared to 2005, while the value of Norwegian mackerel imports increased by 224.6%.
However, despite dwindling volumes (-11.4%) the UK remained the first leading country both in terms of volume and value of its mackerel exports to Russia.
In 2006 the total volume of mackerel imported to Russia rose by more than 4000 tonnes, the increase on 2005 amounting to 7.05%.
