Icelandic fish catches in August 2010

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in August 2010 was 116,026 tonnes compared to 112,500 tonnes in August 2009, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for 34 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 12 thousand tonnes, haddock 6 thousand tonnes, saithe 8 thousand tonnes and redfish 4 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 79 thousand tonnes, thereof herring 46 thousand tonnes and mackerel 32 thousand.


At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 7.5% in August 2010 compared with August 2009.
