Highest Norwegian Salmon Exports ever for November
Exports of Norwegian Salmon in November totalled NOK 3.1 billion, showing an impressive growth rate of 38% or NOK 853 million compared to November 2009. The record figure for Norwegian Salmon exports set just one month previously was beaten by NOK 66 million, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to NSEC.
Comments Paul Aandahl, market analyst with the Norwegian Seafood Export Council: "The growth in Norwegian Salmon exports that we are seeing is attributable to growth in volume combined with increased prices. The upward trend in prices is due to growing global demand for salmon and reduced competition."
Prices for Norwegian Salmon remain strong
The average export price for fresh whole Norwegian Salmon in November was NOK 36.15 per kg, down by NOK 0.66 from the previous month but still up by NOK 7.92 compared to November last year.
Strongest growth in exports to Asia and eastern Europe
In November, the volume of exports of Norwegian Salmon to eastern Europe increased by 3,320 tonnes and to Asia by 2,916 tonnes. Growth in exports to the EU, which accounts for about 2/3 of all Norwegian Salmon exports, stood at 1,562 tonnes. Exports to the USA in November declined by 79 tonnes compared to the same month last year.
France still most important export market for Norwegian Salmon
The volume of exports of Norwegian Salmon to France in November totalled 11,415 tonnes, an increase of 5% compared to November last year. The volume of exports of Norwegian Salmon to Russia grew by an impressive 50%, making Russia the second biggest export market for Norwegian Salmon in November.
Exports of Norwegian Fjord Trout increase in value
Exports of Norwegian Fjord Trout in November totalled NOK 198 million, up by 24% or NOK 39 million compared to November 2009. Russia is Norway's most important export market for Fjord Trout, accounting for 52% of total exports. China continues to show strong growth and is now Norway's second most important export market for Fjord Trout. Since November last year, exports to China have increased fivefold.
