Grieg Seafood Hjaltland UK Ltd has, for the second year in a row, won the best retail product award - Fish and Seafood - for its WildWaters smoked, marinated and fresh Scottish salmon range at the 2011 Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Grieg Hjaltland UK.
The awards, which recognise the best of Scotland's food and drink industry, were revealed at a ceremony, hosted by BBC Radio 2 food expert, Nigel Barden, at Dunblane on Thursday (26th May).
Attending the event and collecting the award, Stella Winks of Grieg Seafood Hjaltland UK Ltd, said: "To win such a prestigious award once is a major achievement, but to win twice is truly outstanding.
"It is particularly satisfying that we have created an award-winning Scottish Salmon range that is truly ‘Made in Shetland': the raw product is our company's very own salmon, which have been grown right here is the islands, and then processed, smoked or marinated on our own premises. There are no other links in the chain, we know our product inside out, and so we can sell with confidence, knowing that quality and freshness is guaranteed."
Managing director of Grieg Seafood Hjaltland, Michael Stark, said: "We are delighted to have won such a prestigious award, particularly when you consider the other products shortlisted in our category. The Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards showcase the very best food and drink products produced in Scotland and the fact that we have won a second time in a row is a true testament to the quality of our innovative WildWaters product range.
"It is a great credit to our team and rewards all the hard work that has gone into not only developing the range and establishing its initial success, but also the ongoing work that retains standards and helps the business grow. We have been able to build a quality product portfolio and level of service that our customers - in 13 countries across Europe, the Far East, the US and Canada - truly value."
