Government allocating cod quota reserve

By the start of November 2006 Russia’s Federal Fisheries Agency has allocated the so-called fishery reserve of cod quotas in Murmansk-led North Basin.

The total quantity of 5,000 tonnes for fishery in the Barents Sea has been split shared between the research programmes and commercial users.

More specifically, for research cruises the government has allocated 2,200 tonnes of cod and 1,900 tonnes of haddock.

The overall quotas for research and control purposes in the Barents Sea in 2006 are given in the table below.
