The Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako visited the site of the Russian Pollock fish processing plant, which the Russian Fishery Company (RFC) is building on the territory of the “Nadezhdinskaya” priority development area (Primorsky Krai). The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for September 1 of this year.

By May 20, 2020 the total volume of aquatic biological resources harvested by Russian fleets amounted to more than 2.01 million metric tons, 5.9% or 116,600 tonnes up on the corresponding result of last year.

Pelagic vessel Venus was expected to dock in Vopnafjörður Yesterday afternoon with 1260 tonnes on board. The herring catch was taken in four hauls over 24 hours in the Héráðsflói Deep, which is around five hours’ steaming from Vopnafjörður.

‘The mackerel are moving fast but they don’t seem to have decided where they want to go. We have seen them shifting quickly eastwards for one or two days, then they turn around and start swimming back west again, or northwards.'

As per 27 August 2019 total catches of Pacific salmons in the Russian Far East reached 420 thousand metric tons, 46% up on the respective result of 2017.

Through the first seven months of the year 2019 the Russian fishermen harvested 2.96 million metric tons, by 3.5% more than last year.

As per July 23, 2019 the total catch of Pacific salmons amounted to 152.5 thousand metric tons exceeding the respective result of the previous odd year by 55% or 54.6 thousand tonnes.

Víkingur is expected in Vopnafjörður today with around 790 tonnes of mackerel on board. This is their second trip, and Venus has also landed twice in Vopnafjörður, so there is full mackerel production at HB Grandi’s pelagic factory.

The Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo) has for the first time allowed Yamal fishermen to harvest whitefish Coregonus muksun for aquaculture purposes, reports www.megafishnet.com.
