During July, the catch of the Russian fishing fleet amounted to 123.7 thousand metric tons in the Atlantic Ocean and the South Pacific to display an increase of 17.8 thousand tons compared to June. At the Admiralty shipyards (St. Petersburg) a ceremony of launching the third vessel "Mechanic Sizov '' of the supertrawler series for the Russian Fishery Company (RFC) took place. However, the progress of the catch in particular areas like the Barents Sea (cod, for example) displayed dynamic changes, reports Megafishnet.com.

Due to difficult meteorological and ice conditions, fishing in the Far Eastern seas is carried out with some shift relative to the usual schedule, reports Megafishnet.

During the fifth month of 2021 Russian fleets operating in the Atlantic Ocean harvested 106,600 tonnes of fish, 5,300 tonnes down on April 2021, reports Megafishnet.com.

The achievements of the past year, the current situation in the sales markets of traditional species, and a favorable long-term scientific forecast allow to take a new look at the prospects of the pelagic season in the Russian Far East (RFE). The grounds for the growing importance of sardine, mackerel, and squid operations are becoming obvious with saury not hopeless either. Therefore, it is quite possible that the pelagic fisheries will equalize in importance with the salmon and pollock season in the not-so-distant future, reports Megafishnet.com.

Traditionally, April 9 is treated as the end of the main fishing season at the Far East, it is the Sea of Okhotsk Alaska pollock fishery.  This year season was fairy unusual in many aspects.  The main difference is that it has not ended yet. Of course, the fishery in the three main subzones ended according to the plan, but this year East Sakhalin pollock fishery was certified by MSC, and therefore those few who have a quota there continued to work, reports Megafishnet.

The initial forecast of the All-Russia Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) is making positive projections for the forthcoming salmon season in Kamchatka while the harvest potential for the Sakhalin fisheries is seen as very poor, reports Megafishnet.com
