Statistics Iceland: Fish catches in July 2011
Total catch of Icelandic vessels in July 2011 was 103,531 tonnes compared to 116,942 tonnes in July 2010, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics Iceland.
Demersal species accounted for nearly 26 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 9 thousand tonnes, haddock 2 thousand tonnes, redfish 4.5 thousand tonnes and saithe 5 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 75 thousand tonnes, thereof mackerel 54 thousand tonnes and herring 21 thousand tonnes.
At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 11.1% in July 2011 compared with July 2010. In the first seven months of 2011 the value of catch increased by 4.3% compared with the same time-period in 2010.
