Salmon fishery keeps on in Russia’s Pacific regions

As of September 21, Russian catch of Pacific salmons amounted to 281,029 metric tons or 43% of the corresponding result of the record year 2018.

In the Kamchatka Territory, 191.4 thousand tonnes were caught (38.5% of the 2018 result). Sakhalin region contributed 49.2 thousand tonnes (49.4%), Khabarovsk Territory - 32.2 thousand tonnes (83.6%), Magadan region - 5.3 thousand tonnes (74.8%), Chukotka Autonomous Okrug - 1.9 thousand tonnes (64.6%). Vladivostok-led Primorsky Territory harvested 937 tonnes of salmons (101%).

In the southern Kuril Islands, the chum salmon fishery is taking off with the first catches totalling 455 metric tons.
