Russian catch of main commercial species as per 17 August 2011-2012
As per 17 August cod and pollock have been recorded as the main drivers of the national catch on the growth side while wild salmon fishes of the Russian Far East have heavily contributed in the opposite direction causing an overall decrease on the last year, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/ based on the data of Russia's Ministry of Agriculture.
In particular, against the overall reduction of nearly 60 k tonnes the pollock harvest in the Russian Far East went up by 29 k tonnes year-on-year. The harevest of mostly Barents Sea cod accelerated by 21 k tonnes while the good performance of these species was neutralized by the plummeting salmon harvest which wrent down by 125.9 k tonnes on the same period of 2011.
