Progress of Russian fisheries in the North Atlantic and Central Eastern Atlantic in January-October 2021. PART 2
During October, the catch of the Russian fishing fleet amounted to 96.2 thousand metric tons in the Atlantic Ocean and the South Pacific to display an increase of 19.7 thousand tons compared to September, reports Megafishnet.com.

In the waters of West Greenland three trawlers coming from Murmansk-led North Fisheries Basin were targeting halibut. They altogether harvested 466 metric tonnes of halibut through the month (+38 tonnes YOY). From the beginning of the year the halibut catch in the area amounted to 1,147 tonnes. As per October 31 last year, the halibut harvest in the area totaled 1,491 tonnes.
In the Northwest Atlantic (NAFO area) one Murmansk-based vessel was targeting redfish and hake until October 16. Through the first half of the month she harvested 200 tonnes of fish (-600 tonnes), including 74% of redfish, 23% of hake, 2% of cod and 1% of halibut.
Morocco
In the Atlantic fishing zone of Morocco seven large trawlers coming from Kaliningrad, 3 trawlers from Murmansk and two from the Russian Far East were fishing for pelagiс species. The fishery situation was unstable, but satisfactory in general. Through the month under analysis the Russian fishermen harvested 12,900 tonnes (-1,100 tonnes), including 84% of mackerel, 9% of sardine, 6% of horse mackerel and 1% of other fish species. From the beginning of the season (27 June) the Russian fleet caught 41,200 tonnes.
Mauritania
In the Mauritanian EEZ one trawler called Atlas coming from the Russian Far East resumed pelagic fishery on October 10. The fishery situation was unstable. Through the period under analysis the fishermen harvested 1,200 tonnes, including 80% of mackerel, 7% of horse mackerel, 5% of sardine and 8% of other fish. From the beginning of the year the Russian fishermen harvested 40,600 tonnes of fish. In 2020 as per October 31 the Russian catch in Mauritanian waters amounted to 65,100 tonnes of pelagic fish.
Southeast Pacific
In the waters of the South Eastern Pacific Admiral Shabalin trawler owned by MTF PJSC was targeting Cape bonnetmouth. The fishery situation was unstable. On October 27 the vessel headed for the port. Her total catch through the month amounted to 600 tonnes of fish (-1,400 tonnes YOY), including 67% of Cape bonnetmouth and 33% of Alfonsino Beryx. The total Russian catch in the area amounted to 19,200 tonnes. In 2020 as per October 31 the harvest was 5,700 tonnes.
