Norwegian Sea catch and quota progress in January 2021

In January 2021 the Russian fleets continued targeting herring, Northern blue whiting and black halibut in the Norwegian Sea, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to Fishnet.ru, the herring fishery in the Norwegian EEZ, which took off on 16 January 2021, was conducted by Lazurnyi trawler owned by Murmansk-based OOO Iceberg-Nord. By the end of the month, she harvested 771 tonnes of herring (the Russian herring quota in the Norwegian EEZ and in the NEAFC Regulatory Area amounts to 83,500 tonnes). In January 2020 the Russian fishermen harvested 494 tonnes of herring.

Faroese fishing zone

Two trawlers owned by Kaliningrad-based Westrybflot as well as RTMKSm Yantarnyi owned by OOO Azimut and BMRTS Kapitan Nazin owned by Murmansk Trawl Fleet were targeting blue whiting in the Faroese fishing zone. During the month the fishery situation was unstable. The blue whiting catch through January totaled 4,300 tonnes out of 82,000 tonnes of the Russian blue whiting quota in the area.
