More than 50 thousand tons of iwashi sardine has been caught
Russian fishermen are catching iwashi sardine in South Kuril zone, and earlier this year - in EEZ of Japan, Megafishnet.com reports.
The fishing is done by companies Norebo, Sigma Marine Technologies, NBAMR, Forpost and Dobroflot. Some days total catch is more than 1600 tons, some other as low as 500 tons. Total catch YTD as of August, 16 is close to 55,000 MT, i.e. less than 75% of 2020 results.
The difficult fishing situation in the area of the South Kuriles does not yet allow reaching the volumes of the last year and increasing the production of iwashi.
