Iceland: Value of catch in May increased by 4.5%
The value of catch from Icelandic vessels in May 2018 was 11.6 billion ISK, an increase of 4.5% compared with May 2017, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics Iceland.
Demersal catch value was 8.1 billion ISK, a decrease of 4.6%. Value of flatfish was just over 1.3 billion ISK, an increase of 32.5% from May last year. Value of pelagic catch which was mostly blue whiting was 1.8 billion ISK compared with 1.3 billion ISK in May 2017. Value of shellfish was just over 359 million ISK, nearly the same value as in May 2017.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from June 2017 to May 2018 was 122 billion ISK which is a 6.3% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
