HB Grandi: 20,000 tonnes of capelin left
This morning the capelin's migration had extended as far as mid-Breidafjördur, around 20 nautical miles north of Rif. Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson, head of department at HB Grandi's pelagic division, is satisfied with progress in both fishing and processing, although it is clear that the end of the season is now not far away. Last year, when the quotas was smaller than this year's, the company's fleet had finished fishing on capelin by the 10th of March. As well as the HB Grandi vessels, Huginn VE has fished some of the company quota and Hoffell SU completed one trip on the HB Grandi quota last month.
According to Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson, Víkingur AK left Akranes yesterday for Vopnafjördur with full tanks. Ingunn AK also docked at Vopnafjördur last night and its catch is now being processed there. Faxi RE and Lundey NS are at Akranes where Faxi's catch is almost all pumped ashore and Lundey is waiting its turn to land.
