A-season of pollock started
On January 1, 2021, fishing companies started to harvest pollock in the Sea of Okhotsk, reports Megafishnet.com.
According to Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries, from January 1 to April 10, 2021, it is planned to harvest over 915 thousand tons of pollock and produce more than 570 thousand tons of various fish products. The total catch of pollock at the end of A-season 2020 amounted to 914.0 thousand tons.
In order to ensure a continuous and safe catch process under restrictions associated with the spread of COVID-19, the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Ilya Shestakov instructed, together with Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor, to develop a regulation that would give additional guarantees for fishing vessels crews good health.
In 2021, 130 fishing vessels and over 12 thousand people will participate in the fishery. The average daily catch of pollock during the expedition is 8-9 thousand tons.
