Findus Group recognised twice in FDF Community Partnership Awards
The Findus Group this week received two awards from the Food & Drink Federation (FDF) in its annual Community Partnership Awards. The ‘Fish for Life' sourcing approach for the Young's and Findus brands was recognised with a Special Award for Environmental Excellence whilst a two year project to encourage healthier lifestyles at Young's factories in Grimsby received a Silver in the ‘Workplace Wellbeing' category, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Findus Group.
This is the sixth time the Fish for Life programme has received a major award. It is used by Findus Group as a vehicle to drive ongoing improvement in fisheries management around the world, and also as a mechanism to ensure the responsible sourcing of both farmed and wild seafood for its Young's and Findus brands. In June this year the programme was also named winner of the Management Category in the EU's 2010 European Business Awards for the Environment.
Ian Hagg, director of corporate social responsibility, says, "It has been a fantastic year for our Fish for Life programme and we are absolutely delighted that the work we do in this area continues to be recognised as a benchmark for best practice in our industry."
The Workplace Wellbeing Silver award was made for a long term scheme to encourage healthier lifestyles for staff at Young's Grimsby factories. Called ‘Everyone Benefits' the programme brings regular fun and educational initiatives into the workplace on themes such as healthy eating, safety in the home and smoking cessation.
