EASTERN FISHERIES INC. CONTINUES FULL OPERATIONS AFTER FIRE
Eastern Fisheries Inc. announced the continuation of full operations after the successful containment of a fire in one of its plants. The incident started after business hours on June 2 and was extinguished by area firefighters that same night, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Eastern Fisheries Inc.
Cleanup and repair processes are underway, and Eastern managers, in full cooperation with the FDA, have removed all affected product.
Although the plant sustained physical damage, the company's overall harvesting and processing have not been impacted. Lost production space is being accommodated temporarily by a second processing plant in close proximity to the damaged site.
Said Eastern Fisheries owner Roy Enoksen: "One of the benefits to our vertical integration is our ability to adjust to changing situations quickly. Thankfully, the fire's impact was minimal and no one was hurt. We appreciate the support we've received from the community and our associates in the seafood industry. We're also grateful for the efforts of New Bedford's Fire Department and the city's administration."
