Cumbrian Seafoods Frying High
Fish supplied by the UK's largest independent supplier of seafood has helped one of the country's major supermarkets win a national award, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Cumbrian Seafoods.
Morrisons was named "best foodservice outlet serving fish and chips" in the prestigious 2011 National Fish and Chips Awards, which honour the top providers of the British public's traditional favourite fish meal.
The leading supermarket beat off stiff competition to take first place in the category, thanks to the quality of the fish and chips it provides in the 340 in-store cafés it operates.
The win has also been celebrated by County Durham's Cumbrian Seafoods, which provides the fish used in Morrisons outlets.
"We are delighted that Morrisons has won such a prestigious award and that it is our fish which has contributed to their success," said Cumbrian Seafoods' Buying Director, Graham Anderson.
"The Fish and Chip Awards are nationally recognised and celebrate high standards within the industry.
"It is excellent news that the high quality fish that we have provided to Morrisons for more than two decades, both for use in their cafes and sold through the stores to the general public, has been given this seal of approval."
The National Fish and Chip Awards have been operating for 22 years and encourage entry across a range of categories from young fish frier to top independent operator.
Cumbrian Seafoods has been providing award-winning fish to Morrisons for more than two decades, including Best fresh cod loin which was named Best Chilled Product in the 2006 Food Marketing & Manufacturing Awards.
