Third seiner-trawler delivered to customer in the Russian Far East
In late November the Yantar shipyard based in Kaliningrad delivered the third RSW seiner-trawler to the customer in Kamchatka, reports Megafishnet.com.
According to Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries, the boat named “Vasily Kaplyuk” built to SK-3101R design has been ordered by Kamchatka-based Lenin fishing co-op to boost fresh fish landings to its processing facilities under the extra fishing quotas versus investment obligations scheme.
The contract with Yantar yard for the construction of three RSW SK-3101R design vessels was signed back in January 2016. It was the first contract in Russia for the construction of such vessels for a domestic customer in the last 20 years.
Leninets and Komandor, delivered to the customer on August 26 and December 6, 2019, are already operating in Kamchatka.
The vessel design makes it possible to conduct bottom and pelagic trawl fishery as well as purse seine and Danish seine operations. The main feature of the vessel is the ability to store the catch in tanks with refrigerated sea water (RSW).
