Shipbuilders of the Northern Shipyard based in St. Petersburg have started cutting steel for the ninth freezing trawler-processor built to the project 170701 specifications, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to the yard, the trawler was ordered by ROLIZ LLC (part of the NOREBO Group). The laying of the ninth trawler is scheduled for May 2021. It will be the Group's third boat under construction to operate in the Far Eastern Fisheries.

The vessel is designed for catching pollock, herring and other commercial species at a design fishing capacity of up to 230 tons of fish per day.

The NOREBO’s factory trawler series consists of ten vessels built to the modern Design 170701 providing for waste-free processing of fish in open sea conditions thanks to a multifunctional fish factory installed on the trawlers.

The ship will produce different types of fillets, mince and other items, while the waste will be processed into fishmeal and by-products. This will ensure a waste-free production cycle.

The capsule-like shape of the bow contours of the trawler allows to increase the working space, while improving its seaworthiness. Thanks to the increased energy efficiency of the main engine, the heat generated will be used to heat the cabins and work areas. The electricity generated by the trawl winches in the recovery mode is planned to be used for lighting and other needs of the vessel.
