Russian Vets Introduce Temporary Restrictions on Import of Fish Products from Tobø Fisk of Norway

Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Yevgeny Nepoklonov  has sent a letter to Harald Gjein, Director General of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority last week. The letter says among other things that "during the monitoring of residues of banned and harmful substances live larvae of nematode Anisakis simplex were detected in the consignment of chilled cod liver imported from Norway to Russia, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Rosselkhoznadzor.

The products were manufactured by Norwegian Establishment No. F 352 (Tobø Fisk AS). The laboratory tests revealed the presence of live larvae of nematode Anisakis simplex also in the consignment of chilled cod liver from Norway. The products were manufactured by the same establishment. This is the violation of veterinary and sanitary requirements of the Customs Union and Russia. The Rosselkhoznadzor informs that temporary restrictions will be introduced on the import of products from the abovementioned establishment from May 3, 2013. We request to investigate the case and find out the reason of nematode Anisakis simplex presence in the products of Establishment No. F 352 (Tobø Fisk AS), as well as to take measures aimed at prevention of imports non-compliant with CU and Russian requirements. Please, inform the Rosselkhoznadzor about the investigation results and measures taken."
