Okhotsk Sea coast-based factory to feature long fish pipeline for incoming raw material

The construction of a processing plant using a fish pipeline for the incoming raw material is planned on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. This was announced by Kamchatka governor Vladimir Solodov in a local TV program while speaking about a visit to Lenin Fishing Co-op, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to the region’s government, installation of technological equipment on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk will begin later this fall. The plant masterminded by Lenin Fishing co-operative is scheduled to be launched in 2022. Usually in this area, fishing takes place in the summer. In autumn, the Bolshaya River is covered with ice and the work of small fishing seiners is prohibited. In such conditions the co-op plans to use a medium-tonnage fleet for the job. Thanks to the use of medium-tonnage boats and the construction of a fish pipeline, the factory’s operating period can be extended to eight months annually. This will help to process more fish and create jobs for local residents.

At the Okhotsk plant, for the first time, the technology of a fish pipeline with a length of up to one and a half kilometers will be deployed, so that fish can be conveyed to the factory straight from the sea overcoming the bottleneck of difficult coastline and the lack of the possibility to build berthing facilities.

The Lenin Co-op is probably the most investment-intensive enterprise in Kamchatka. Extra to several completed projects, they are looking into possible construction of further fish processing plants in the Oktyabrsky village and Karaginsk district.
