New fish factory launched under investment quota program

On 19 September 2019 Arkhangelsk hosted an opening ceremony of a new fish processing plant built under the government program on investment quotas. According to the program, the plant’s owner Arkhangelsk Experimental Algae Plant JSC will now get extra capture quotas to cover for the plant’s need in the raw fish.

The plant will process cod, haddock and other fish species into value added products such as fillets and mince (more than 50 tons per day) and fishmeal and fish oil (6 tons per day). The maximum production yield will be 16,800 tonnes per year. The production range will include frozen and chilled fillets, steaks, mince, soup sets and fish feeds. The factory will create up to 90 new jobs.

The plant is located on the coast of the Northern Dvina in the vicinity of the mooring lines where the company’s vessel Dauria lands seaweed. Nearby there are also coldstorage facilities of Arkhangelsk Fish Company LLC.

Under the investment quota program, six processing plants have already been built in Kamchatka, in the Kuril Islands and in the North Fishery Basin, and three more are to be commissioned before the end of 2019. By 2021-2022 more than 20 new fish processing factories will appear in the North of Russia and the country’s Far East.
