METRO Cash & Carry in Court versus Federal Anti-Monopoly Service over $4 Million Fine
The Russian division of METRO Cash & Carry has gone to Court versus Federal Anti-Monopoly Service in an effort to avoid paying a huge fine for alleged discriminatory behavior towards fish suppliers, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/ with reference to Sibdepo.
In particular, the retailer has not agreed with the accusations of creating discriminatory conditions for suppliers of fish products and has gone to Moscow Arbitration Court to get rid of the fine. The court was scheduled to hear the issue in mid-September but the sitting has been postponed until 12 October 2012.
The stake is as high as RR130 million (ca. $4.2 million) as in November 2012 FAS has found the retailer guilty of the above offence and imposed the fine on the company.
