Marine Harvest’s 2Q production up

Marine Harvest on 13 July 2011 announced that it harvested 82,000 metric tons of salmon (head-on, gutted) in the second quarter of 2011, up from 73,000 metric tons in the first quarter of 2011 and up from 68,000 metric tons in the second quarter of 2010, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to SeafoodSource.

Marine Harvest Norway accounted for the majority of the harvest at 54,000 metric tons. Marine Harvest Scotland represented 13,000 metric tons, followed by Canada at 8,000 metric tons and Chile at 1,000 metric tons.

The company's operational EBIT reached NOK 890 million in the second quarter of 2011, up from NOK 792 million during the same period in 2010. Marine Harvest Norway expensed exceptional costs of about NOK 50 million, mainly relating to pancreas disease. Operational EBIT per kilogram of fish for Marine Harvest Norway totaled about NOK 12.90 in the second quarter of 2011, compared to NOK 11 during the same period in 2010.

The company also announced that it has reached an agreement with its lenders to up-scale the EUR 600 million facility agreement by EUR 200 million.

Marine Harvest will release its full second-quarter results on 20 July.
