Keel of the first crabber-processor laid for Russian Crab Company

On March 18th, 2021, the keel of the first crabber-processor was laid for the Russian Crab Company (RCC) at the Oka river Shipyard in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to RCC, project 5712P will be the first vessel in a series of three processors under the investment quotas program. The first crabber processor is to enter service in 2023.

The Ceremony was attended by the Head of the Oka Shipyard, representatives of Russian Crab Company, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Damen Shipyards Group, Kommer Damen.

The design was developed by Damen Engineering company (St. Petersburg) in cooperation with the Russian Crab Group’s specialists. New vessels will be equipped with an innovative factory for processing the catch into cooked-and-frozen products. The applied technologies combine the reliability of traditional solutions and the mechanization of lifting processes covering hydraulic tables, freezers with semi-automatic loading and unloading, an elevator for supplying products to the hold.

New vessels will be equipped with modern fishing technical equipment to increase the vitality and safety of the catch. The fishing capacity, the processing and storage of frozen products will double in comparison with the existing vessels. Special attention has been given to the design of living space to match the needs of the ship’s crew.

The first catcher processor in the series will receive the name of «Captain Manzholin» in honor of the Crab Fleet Captain-director.
