Keel of fourth crab-catcher for Russian Crab Group laid at Onega Shipyard

On July 23, the fourth crab-catcher of the 5712LS design was laid at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant to the order of the largest Far Eastern crab-fishing company the "Russian Crab Group '', reports Megafishnet.com.

According to the company, the series will include seven vessels for the harvesting and transportation of live crab. The construction is carried out within the framework of the investment quota program. The implementation of the project will help replace the company's existing vessels with more productive, safe and comfortable crabbers, the company said.

The technical equipment of the 5712LS project crab catchers will double the volume of live products transported, increase its safe storage, and improve the seaworthiness of ships necessary for working in difficult weather conditions of the Okhotsk and Bering Seas.

In addition to the 5712LS series, the new fleet of the Russian Crab Group will include three 5712P series crab processors with onboard factories for processing the catch. Their construction is carried out by the Oka shipyard. Contracts with the both shipyards were concluded following the results of the 2019 auction on securing and granting quota shares, at which the Russian Crab Group acquired 10 lots for crab harvesting.

The main technical characteristics of the project 5712LS crab catchers are: length-57.70 m, width-12.60 m, autonomy – 40 days, full speed - 12.6 knots, capacity for live crab-110-120 metric tons.
