Kamchatka co-op to get first-in-class trawler-seiner of its new series

The Leninets trawler, which was built at the Yantar Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), left the Kaliningrad harbor and headed for Kamchatka to its owner Imeni Lenina fishing co-op.

The first-in-class trawler-seiner of the SK-3101R project “Leninets” left the water area of the Yantar Shipyard on September 27. Then the ship prepared for the long trip through the Southern Sea Route to take about 60 days.

On arrival the ship will test its fishing complex in the presence of the shipbuilders and equipment suppliers.

The contract for the construction of three trawler-seiners under the SK-3101R project was signed in 2016. The first trawler Leninets was laid down in July 2016, launched in November 2017 and handed over to the customer on August 26, 2019. The second ship Comandor is doing mooring trials. The third trawler Udarnik is currently preparing to start mooring trials. The entire series is to be handed over to its customer within this year.

The project was developed by the Norwegian architects from Skipskompetanse AS. The vessel is 50.6 meters long, 12 meters wide, and the main engine power is approx. 2200 kW. The design provides for fishing operations with bottom and pelagic trawls, Danish seine and purse seine. The main feature of the series is the ability to hold fish catches in RSW tanks.
