Russia to launch another big sturgeon farm

A big sturgeon farm is being constructed in the settlement of Rechnoye in Russia's Republic of Dagestan washed by the Caspian Sea, according to the Russian Fish Insider Report published by http://www.megafishnet.com/

The farm is to be commissioned closer to the end of 2011 and the facility will have a capacity of up to 500 metric tons of sturgeon products and up to 25 tonnes of caviar.

The farm has been designed by Russia's GosNiorh State Research Institute for Lake and River Fisheries known for its state-of-the-art aquaculture projects in China and Finland.

Turkmenistan

The institute will also be designing the experimental sturgeon breeding plant for restocking the Caspian Sea, the project proposed for consideration by Turkmenistan as a Russian-Turkmen joint venture during the mid-July visit of St-Petersburg governor Valentina Matvienko.
