American import of Russian whitefish growing

According to statistics, in January 2010 American import of frozen whitefish fillets in blocks amounted to 527 tonnes, up from 411 tonnes in January 2009.
Import of cod fillets in blocks amounted to 23 tonnes, while volume of Russian pollock imported to the USA reached 502 tonnes along with 1 tonne of other whitefish species in blocks imported.
Totally, in 2009 Russia supplied 3,517 tonnes of frozen whitefish fillets in blocks to the USA in comparison with 1,270 tonnes in 2008.
